AerCap leasing company announced on Monday the signing of a lease agreement with Gol Linhas Aéreas, which will receive six Boeing 737-800BCF (Boeing Converted Freighter) jets.

The news about the agreement clarifies the origin of the cargo planes that will be operated by Gollog, Gol’s logistics division, together with the Mercado Livre e-commerce platform. The airline and retailer announced the partnership in April this year.

According to AerCap, three 737-800 jets converted into freighters will be delivered to the Brazilian carrier later this year and the others in 2023. The aircraft will be painted with the Mercado Livre brand.

“We are very pleased to announce our agreement to lease six 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighters to our longstanding customer GOL. These 737-800BCF’s will be a versatile addition to GOL’s fleet, allowing them to respond to the increased demand from e-commerce retail businesses in South America. We are delighted to expand our relationship with GOL and wish them every success with these aircraft in the years to come,” said Peter Anderson, commercial director at AerCap.

According to Boeing, the 737-800BCF carries up to 23.9 metric tons of cargo and has a flight range of up to 3,750 km. The BCF option is only available for second-hand aircraft originally manufactured for passenger transport.
