Airbus announced the first commercial jet sales agreement at Farnborough 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Drukair – Royal Bhutan Airlines, which intends to order three A320neo and also two A321XLR, these with 4,700 nm of autonomy.
According to planemaker, the flag carrier of the Central Asian country will expand its international flight network with new aircraft from 2030 onwards.
Drukair, which currently has a modest fleet of three A319s, one A320neo and an ATR 42 turboprop, plans to fly from Paro International Airport and the new airport at Gelephu Mindfulness City to destinations in Europe, South East Asia and Australia.
