Airbus Defence and Space has announced a reorganization plan that will culminate in the cuts of up to 2,500 employees, the European group’s division announced on Wednesday.
The cuts represent around 7% of the workforce and are expected to take place by mid-2026.
The tough measure comes after significant losses at the division, especially in satellite projects. There are increases in costs and delays in programs such as OneSat.

“In recent years, the defence and space sector and, thus, our Division have been impacted by a fast changing and very challenging business context with disrupted supply chains, rapid changes in warfare and increasing cost pressure due to budgetary constraints,” said Mike Schoellhorn, Airbus Defence and Space CEO.
We want to shape the Division so it can act as a leading and competitive player in this ever-evolving market. This requires us to become faster, leaner and more competitive,” he added.
The announcement comes days after another aerospace giant, Boeing, confirmed a 10% cut in its workforce, representing about 17,000 employees.
But the US company is going through a different moment, with broader problems affecting almost all of its divisions and including failures, defects in the production line and delayed wages, among others.
