Airbus began 2025 with fewer commercial aircraft deliveries than in 2024. In January, 25 jets were delivered, five fewer than in the same month last year.

Deliveries were led by the A321 with 11 aircraft (two fewer than in 2024), followed by the A320neo with seven jets (there were 13 in 2024).

Among the narrow-body aircraft, there were also three A220-300s and two A319neos, one of them for WestAir from China. Last year, Airbus had delivered only two A220s.

Wide-body jets remained at the same level, with only two deliveries. But if in January 2024 the manufacturer had delivered two A330-900s, this year it was one A350-900 and one A350-1000.

Airbus has not yet released its guidance for 2025, but it is expected to aim to increase deliveries to at least 800 aircraft.

Last year, after a poor start, the company recovered and ended 2024 with 766 deliveries, just four below the target.

Orders grow

If in January 2024, Airbus announced only two orders – one from Ethiopian for 11 A350-900s and another from Delta for 20 A350-1000s – this year 55 gross orders were registered.

The largest in terms of number of aircraft includes 25 A320neo, but its customer was not revealed. Airbus had four other agreements whose buyer remains anonymous for a total of 20 aircraft.

On January 2, a customer ordered a single A321neo, while on January 8 there was a deal for ten A330-900s and another for three A350Fs from different customers.

The A330neo order is likely a deal made by Saudi Arabian low-cost carrier flyadeal.

Two days later, the company signed a contract to supply six A350-900s. In addition, Lufthansa added five A350-1000s to its order and Taiwan’s Starlux added five more A350 freighters.

There were, however, four cancellations, one A220-100 and three A320neo.

As of last month, Airbus had a backlog of 8,684 aircraft, 85 more than in January 2024.
