Airbus has delivered on Tuesday the first A350-1000 to launch customer Qatar Airways in an event in Toulouse, headquarter of the manufacturer. This is the first of 37 A350-1000 ordered by Qatar, the largest A350 costumer with 76 orders of which 37 are from the -1000 version.
“Qatar Airways always demands the very best for its customers, so it is right that we are the first airline in the world to fly the Airbus A350-1000,” said Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker
The A350-1000 is the largest Airbus widebody with two engines. With a 7-metre longer fuselage, the jetliner is capable to offer a 40% larger premium cabin than the A350-900. In Qatar, the A350-1000 will carry 327 passengers, but the total capacity of the aircraft is up to 440 seats.
The first route to be attended by A350-1000 in Qatar Airways will be a service from Doha to London – the Airbus jetliner has a range of 8,000 nm (14,800 kilometers). The A350-1000 features a modified wing trailing-edge, new six-wheel main landing gears and more powerful Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines.
Airbus has so far received 169 orders for the A350-1000 from 12 airlines in eight countries. Other companies that have ordered the new jetliner are Etihad Airways, British Airlines, LATAM and Virgin Atlantic. The new A350-1000 is valued at $ 366,6 million.
