Airbus came very close to its revised guidance for commercial aircraft deliveries for 2024, which targeted 770 jets. In the end, the planemaker delivered 766 aircraft, 123 of them in December alone.
The surge in the last month of the year offset modest deliveries in mid-2024, but it was not enough to achieve a more emblematic result.
It is worth remembering that Airbus had planned to deliver 800 commercial aircraft last year, but revised the forecast after persistent problems in the production chain.

For the CEO of the commercial division, Christian Scherer, the 766 aircraft are more positive than it seems, after all, in 2023 the company had delivered aircraft that were already manufactured and stored.
Among the aircraft families, the A220 stood out, with growth of 10.3% thanks to the seven additional A220-100s delivered. The more popular A220-300 variant delivered the same 65 jets as in 2023.
The A320 family, which accounts for almost 80% of deliveries, saw a small increase of 5.4% due to the 44 additional A321neos sent to customers. The A319neo helped with two more aircraft, while the A320neo fell 15 units behind 2023.
Among the widebodies, the A330 tied with 32 deliveries and the A350 fell 10.9%, with seven fewer aircraft. The A350-1000 even increased the result by one aircraft, but the A350-900 had only 44 jets delivered, eight below 2023.
Orders reached 826 planes in 2024
In December, Airbus booked 99 more orders, 75 of them from an undisclosed customer that closed a deal for 49 A320neo and 26 A321neo on December 30.
There were also three unidentified customers who ordered one A350-900, six A320neo and four A321neo, and two A220-100.
Air Canada increased its A220 order by five more aircraft while Royal Jet ordered three A320neo and Air Algerie ordered three A330-900.
Net orders for 2024 reached 826 aircraft, and Airbus’s total number of jets ordered in history reached 24,621 aircraft.
The backlog, in turn, grew by 60 aircraft, from 8,598 to 8,658 jets.
