A Trigana Air ATR 42-500 suffers a runway excursion at Serui Airport in Indonesia on the morning of September 9.
The aircraft aborted takeoff on flight IL292 bound for Jayapura-Sentani Airport and ended up off the runway and coming to rest in a wooded area.

Trigana Air’s ATR 42-500, registered as PK-YSP, first flew in January 1998. The aircraft was originally delivered to Eurowings of Germany and remained in the Lufthansa Group until 2007, when it was transferred to Eurolot of Poland.
In 2013, the turboprop began flying with Indonesia Air Transport and since 2018 with Trigana Air.
The Jakarta-based airline has 16 aircraft, including a Dornier 328, nine older Boeing 737s and six ATRs, two of which are ATR 72s and the rest, ATR 42s.
The incident occurs one month after an ATR 72-500 crashed in Brazil after losing control amid heavy icing. All 62 people on board died.
