Embraer delivered the 11th E195-E2 jet, the largest commercial aircraft ever developed in Brazil. Belavia, the Belarusian airline, is the new customer of the model, which is already operated by Binter (three planes) and Azul (seven units).
Belavia has signed a lease for three units of the E195-E2 with AerCap, a leasing company that has also supplied all Azul aircraft to date. The carrier’s aircraft is configured for 125 seats in two classes, with nine for the business and 116 for the economy – the total capacity of the aircraft is 146 seats in a 28-inch pitch configuration.
According to Belavia, the E195-E2 will be used on its main routes to London, Barcelona, Nur-Sultan, Munich, Paris, Sochi and Amsterdam. The company is already an Embraer customer, with eleven first generation jets (four E175 and seven E195), in addition to 16 Boeing 737s, including nine from the 800 version.
“Belavia’s passengers love our current Embraer aircraft and I hope they will love the next generation E2 even more. The E2 offers Belavia lower operating costs, as well as the lowest impact on the environment. At Belavia we like to keep our fleet young and fresh; with the addition of the E195-E2 we can take more passengers, further, in greater comfort, and more efficiently – the E2 is the perfect fit”, said Anatoly Gusarov, CEO of Belavia.
“It’s great to welcome another airline to the E2 family of operators. As airlines’ ramp up their operations, the E195-E2 is perfectly positioned to right size routes previously operated by narrowbodies, while keeping frequencies and adjusting capacity to new levels,” said Cesar Pereira, vice president of Europe, Middle East and Africa, Embraer Commercial Aviation.
Few customers
The E195-E2 accumulated 151 firm orders and 198 purchase options until September. This quarter, Embraer has already delivered two jets to Azul (PS-AEE and PS-AEF registration) and is preparing to send another aircraft soon (PS-AEG), reaching a total of 12 units in operation.
The list of airline customers for the E195-E2 also includes Nigeria’s Air Peace, Helvetic Airways (Switzerland), which converted part of the E190-E2 order, and KLM, whose planes were leased from AerCap. The largest order for the aircraft was made by Azul, with 51 units, but which have not yet started to be delivered.
