Founded in 1989, Binter Canarias celebrated a milestone on February 1st, the start of flights between Tenerife and Gran Canaria to Madrid, Spain.
And it wasn’t just any debut. The flag carrier of the Canary Islands has launched a total of 112 weekly flights between the two cities in the archipelago and Madrid, counting departures in both directions.
The new and important routes to the Spanish capital were made possible thanks to the reinforcement of the fleet with four more E195-E2 jets from Embraer.
The aircraft were received at the end of 2023, bringing the type’s fleet to nine jets. Binter’s plan also foresees the delivery of another seven aircraft by 2025.
With greater range and capacity than its ATR turboprops, the E195-E2 offers 132 seats and flies to Madrid in 2 hours and 30 minutes on average.
The arrival in Madrid was celebrated by the Spanish and island governments, which see the growth of tourism and business flights.

Binter will also use the Spanish capital as a maintenance base for its E195-E2, capable of providing services more quickly and efficiently.
