Second variant of the new 737 MAX Family, 737 MAX 9 received FAA (U.S. Federal Aviation Administration) certification on Friday (16th). The aircraft is the largest member of 737 to this date, until the Boeing 737 MAX 10 becomes reality.
“Our teams built superior capabilities into the MAX 9 and proved them all the way through flight test. We’re looking forward to bringing this airplane to market for our valued customers,” said Keith Leverkuhn, vice president and general manager of the 737 MAX program. “I am proud of the entire team for helping us reach another important development milestone.”
Boeing is now in the final stages of preparing the MAX 9 for its first delivery to launch customer Lion Air, from Indonesia. The 737 MAX 9 has a maximum range of 3,550 nautical miles (6,575 kilometers) and can accommodate up to 220 passengers – three additional rows compared to the 737 MAX 8.
To date, the 737 MAX family has more than 4,300 orders from 93 customers.
