In a short space of time, the Boeing AH-64 Apache attack helicopter has seen two distinct moments in its long operational career.

On one hand, the UK received its last Apache, from an order of 50 aircraft, while in Africa, Morocco had just received its first six units of the helicopter.

On March 5, Boeing delivered the 50th AH-64E Apache attack helicopter to the UK Ministry of Defense (MoD) at a ceremony held in Mesa, Arizona.

“Delivering the 50th E-model Apache to the British Army marks a significant milestone in Boeing’s enduring partnership with the UK, a relationship that spans more than 80 years,” said Maria Laine, president of Boeing UK, Ireland, and the Nordics.

The AH-64E is a remanufactured variant with parts, some systems and weapons already used in other Apache units in the British forces, but with a new airframe and updated technologies.

Operated by the British Army, the Apache is one of the main vectors of the air wings of the armed forces of the United Kingdom, being vital in the modern battlefield.

“We are incredibly proud to accept such a cutting-edge capability, and to receive the final airframe of the British Army fleet,” said Mark Langrill, DE&S Director Rotary Wing & Uncrewed Air Systems.

Operating in the heat of Morocco

Operating in 19 nations with more than 1,300 operational helicopters, the AH-64 Apache is an air weapon that continues to be constantly updated and has proven its versatility.

On June 25, 2020, the Kingdom of Morocco and Boeing closed the purchase of 24 AH-64E Apaches, which are being built and updated in Mesa, Arizona.

Having already built more than 2,500 Apache helicopters, Boeing has now delivered the first E-versions to the African country.

The first batch of six AH-64Es was delivered by General Langley of AFRICOM (U.S. Africa Command) in a ceremony at a Moroccan base.

The Apache continues to win customers and 2024 was acquired by Poland and South Korea.
