Boeing resumed deliveries of the 787 Dreamliner after five months. A 787-9 model was received by United Airlines, the manufacturer confirmed on Friday.
The widebody jet had not been delivered to customers since October, when the U.S. planemaker sent four units to American Airlines, Etihad, Saudi Arabia and AerCap.
In 2020, the Dreamliner was the most delivered jetliner by Boeing with 53 aircraft, due to the flight ban of the 737 MAX.
“We have resumed 787 deliveries, following several months of engineering analysis and inspection work,” said Boeing.
The 787’s delivery suspension was caused by a series of production flaws such as defective fuselage composite parts and damaged decompression panels.
To correct these issues, the Charleston, South Carolina, plant had to inspect each aircraft produced and make the necessary repairs. The process can take a month and cost millions of dollars.
According to the FAA, four 787 jets underwent an agency scrutiny before delivery, one of them the United jet, Reuters reported.
According to Boeing, there are 497 pending orders for delivery of the 787 family to date.
