United Airlines received a new Boeing 737 MAX 8 again last week, 80 days after the last delivery of a jet of the type.
The aircraft, registration N37351, was delivered on June 13 and is configured with 166 seats in two classes (16 in business and 150 in economy).
Before the new jet, United had last taken delivery of a 737 MAX 8 on March 27, according to Planespotters.
Deliveries of new aircraft to the US carrier were suspended after a series of incidents with its planes that led the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) to open an investigation to check safety and maintenance procedures.
Among the most notorious incidents are a Boeing 777 main landing gear tire that detached after takeoff, a 737-800 that lost an outer fuselage panel and a 737 MAX that ended up running off the taxiway. Neither event caused injuries.
Despite only receiving a new 737 MAX in mid-June, United Airlines took delivery of three Airbus A321neo from May 16th.
The FAA had once again allowed the airline to resume some deliveries of replacement aircraft on May 30.
