American Airlines could reveal a major aircraft order announcement on Monday, March 4, when it holds an Investor Day.
Rumors indicate an order for 100 single-aisle aircraft, split between Airbus and Boeing.
According to sources from the Reuters and Bloomberg agencies, the European manufacturer is expected to take the largest share of orders, possibly A321neo jets, while Boeing may supply more 737 MAX 8 and even the 737 MAX 10, which has not yet been certified.
But for Bradesco BBI, a Brazilian investment bank, the US airline would also be close to an agreement with Embraer.

According to a report released in recent days, Bradesco considers it possible to place an order for 40 to 50 E175s, regional jets that already form the majority of its fleet of up to 76 seats.
A319 replacement
“In our opinion, American Airlines could place an order for up to 40-50 E175s from Embraer, increasing the backlog by up to US$2.6 billion,” said bank analysts.
Among the reasons given would be a plan to meet the target of a 45% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2035, which would motivate the replacement of Airbus A319 jets, with an average age of over 20 years.
In January, American Airlines’ chief financial officer, Devon May, told Reuters that Embraer is participating in rounds of negotiations for new orders.
