British Airways has unveiled a new first class cabin as part of its Airbus A380 fleet modernisation programme.

With a design inspired by the sweeping wings of the Concorde, the new cabin will be available to passengers in mid-2026.

The airline, the only European carrier to offer first class on routes from London to the United States, has developed a seat that aims to deliver the comfort of a luxury hotel with traditional British touches, providing an environment of privacy and sophistication at 35,000 feet.

With a wider seat and a 79-inch bed, the cabin includes a 32-inch 4K screen, adjustable lights for different moments of the journey, as well as fold-out tables that allow “dining for two” for passengers travelling together.

According to British Airways, the Concorde-inspired design lends fluidity to the space, while elements such as 60-inch curved walls ensure privacy without compromising the feeling of spaciousness.

The seat features a dedicated space for hand luggage, automatic controls for the three window blinds and acoustic panels that help absorb sounds, creating a calm and intimate atmosphere. Another highlight is the “do not disturb” function, which can be activated via the wireless control panel.

First class from the moment of boarding

Customers who opt for the new First Class will also have access to exclusive benefits from the moment of boarding. This includes entry through the First Wing, access to the iconic Concorde Room – the airline’s VIP lounge –, priority boarding and personalized service throughout the journey.

This initiative is part of a £7 billion investment to improve the customer experience, with more than 120 actions already implemented, including new seats for short-haul flights, free Wi-Fi for onboard messaging and the renovation of lounges across its global network.
