Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) has awarded the Cessna SkyCourier type certification, Textron Aviation said.
The Canadian authority’s approval paves the way for the delivery of the first utility turboprop in the country, to Air Bravo Corporation, a passenger, cargo and air ambulance flight services company based in Thunder Bay, Sudbury, Barrie and Meaford, Ontario, since 2001.
The SkyCourier will be a cargo variant and is scheduled for delivery in December.
“The SkyCourier’s outstanding performance will be a game-changer for our customers across Canada,” said Lannie O’Bannion, senior vice president, Global Sales and Flight Operations. “The maximum flexibility and low operating costs of this aircraft make it an excellent choice for a wide range of missions throughout the region.”
Textron has unveiled the SkyCourier’s ability to operate in remote areas, a hallmark of air transportation in Canada, a large country with some cities that are quite isolated.
The delivery of the first SkyCourier in Canada comes two and a half years after the aircraft entered service in the U.S.
Textron has delivered nine turboprops in 2024, mostly to FedEx. In total, the manufacturer has delivered 33 of the aircraft to date.
