Dassault has revealed how it should be its new advanced fighter during the Euronaval 2018 that took place this week in Paris. The aircraft was exposed as a model on the 1/10 scale next to the UCAS, an unmanned aircraft.
Known by the acronym NGF (New Generation Fighter), the fighter features a W-shaped wing, side air intakes and no tail fin, solutions that explore the stealth concept of the future aircraft.
In April, Dassault and Airbus agreed to jointly develop an aircraft to supply France and Germany with a new fighter under the Future Air Combat System (FCAS) program. It will be the successor to the two fighters now used by the armed forces of these countries, the Dassault Rafale and the Eurofighter Typhoon, but this is around 2035 to 2040.
A prototype technology demonstrator is expected to fly by 2025. Despite having its own program, the UK may even join the Germans and French to reduce project costs.
The British introduced their stealth fighter proposal, the Tempest, in July during the Farnborough event. With operational horizon also from 2035, the new hunt could receive the collaboration of other countries like Japan, Turkey, South Korea.
