Delta Airlines will have a new route between Boston and Sao Paulo, in Brazil, starting January 6, Ishrion Aviation revealed.

The flight will be operated three times a week with Airbus A330-300 aircraft with 282 seats in four classes. The Boston-Sao Paulo leg will be during the day while the return leg will be at night.

But the new flight has a short duration. Starting March 28, Delta will stop operating the route and the reason is that its partner LATAM Airlines will take over the flight again.

The service has been operated by LATAM since 2018, but will be interrupted for almost three months for undisclosed reasons.

Today, flights LA8164/8165 are also operated three times a week with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner widebodies.

This may be the answer to the temporary change, a possible lack of aircraft since LATAM has started a retrofit on 24 787 jets that should last until the second half of 2026.

LATAM boarded more than 62,200 paying passengers on the route between January and September, with a high utilization rate of 90%.
