A bizarre incident occurred at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta on September 10. A Delta Airlines Airbus A350-900 that was taxiing ended up clipping the tail of an Endeavor Air CRJ900 regional jet that was parked at a runway intersection.
The ground impact knocked off the tail of the smaller aircraft and damaged the right leading edge of the A350’s wing, but there were no injuries. The vertical and horizontal stabilizers tilted to the left in the impact.

Video footage shows the moment of impact and suggests that the CRJ900 was at a point just off the taxiway. The A350, with a wingspan of 65 meters, is one of the largest jets in operation today.
NTSB to investigate incident
In a statement, Delta Airlines said the incident occurred at 10:07 a.m. and involved the A350 that was operating flight DL295 between Atlanta and Tokyo (Haneda) and the CRJ900 of its subsidiary Endeavor Air that was preparing for flight DL5526 to Lafayette, Louisiana.
There were 221 passengers on flight DL295 and 56 passengers on DL5526. The aircraft involved have registrations N503DN (A350) and N302PQ (CRJ900).
Delta said it is cooperating with the NTSB and authorities in investigating the cause of the incident.
