Embraer confirmed this Monday that Porter Airlines is the customer of an order for 30 E195-E2 jets that was mentioned by the manufacturer in May..
The Canadian airline has closed a deal worth $5.82 billion that includes 50 purchase options and the right to convert them to the E190-E2 variant.
Porter had already been linked to the order in May when Leehman News first revealed that the airline was the unidentified customer – at the time, the company denied it.
Operator of Dash 8 turboprops, Porter had signed a letter of intent for 30 Airbus A220-100s in 2013 when the aircraft was still called the CS 100.
The Canadian carrier’s E195-E2 will be the first of the E2 family to fly in North America. The first delivery is scheduled for the second half of 2022, said Embraer.

The new order should raise the backlog of firm orders for the E195-E2 to 183 aircraft, the highest level of the model, which has attracted a greater number of interested parties in the E2 family.
