The E-Freighter program is on track to complete the second E190F converted to a freighter, Embraer told Flight Global.

According to the company, the aircraft is 70% complete, but the customer was not revealed.

So far, only one aircraft, registration N986TA, has been converted and delivered to Regional One, in the US. The aircraft, however, returned to Embraer’s facilities in January.

Embraer told the outlet that it will deliver the E190F soon. A few days ago, EASA granted full Type Certification for the freighter, in addition to the approval given at the end of last year.

The cargo loading system, which was mentioned in the previous document, still needs to be certified.

Regarding the E195F, the company said it prioritized the E190F version due to a lack of feedstock. The conversion of the larger aircraft will allow it to transport more than 14 tons of cargo.

Embraer’s P2F (Passenger-to-Freighter) conversion program was launched in 2022, at the height of the e-commerce boom driven by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The plan was to bridge the gap between turboprops and narrow-body jets such as the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320.

But supply chain issues have hampered deliveries of new aircraft, leaving the second-hand market busy.

Since launching the program, Embraer has announced an order for 10 conversions from NAC, 20 from China’s Lanzhou Aviation Industry Development Group, and another 20 associated with Regional One.
