Embraer decided to reduce its business jet portfolio, concentrating its product line on the Phenom and Praetor models. As a result, the Legacy series and the Lineage 1000 aircraft are no longer offered, the company confirmed to Airway.
The Legacy series, which marked the Brazilian manufacturer’s debut in the category in 2001, included the Legacy 650, which had recently finished its production, and the new Legacy 450 and 500, based on a clean-sheet design.
“As part of the renewed focus of Embraer Executive Jets to deliver the ultimate experience in business aviation with our industry-leading, clean-sheet Phenom 100 and 300 series and Praetor 500 and 600 jets, the prior derivatives Legacy 450, 500, and 650 , as well as the Lineage 1000, are being phased out of our production plan, ”a company spokesman told AIN.
Embraer, however, pointed out that the Legacy 450 and 500 models may still be produced for strategic customers. Both are very similar to the Praetor 500 and 600, including the first can be converted from the Legacy 450.
First generation E190
The Lineage 1000 was launched in 2006 and is a business variant based on the first generation E190 passenger jet. Although it is quite spacious and capable of carrying up to 19 passengers, the model is poor in terms of range, just 4,600 nm (8,519 km).
As a comparison, Bombardier Global 8000 is capable of carrying up to 17 passengers over distances of 7,900 nm (14,631 km) nonstop and at a higher speed of Mach 0.9, while the Lineage only reaches Mach 0.71.
“The Legacy 650 and Lineage 1000 programs were fundamental to Embraer’s development as a key company in business aviation today and demonstrated our engineering capabilities, aviation knowledge and product robustness,” added Embraer. It is estimated that about 30 Lineage 1000 have been produced by the company to date.
