Embraer is participating in Africa Aerospace Defence 2024, event that takes place from September 18 to 22, 2024, at Waterkloof Air Base, in Pretoria, South Africa.
As its main highlight, the Brazilian manufacturer took the C-390 Millennium, registration PT-ZNG, used for demonstrations.
The airlifter arrived in the country on September 14 after a brief stop in Austria, in Europe. According to flight records, the C-390 has been flying since then, possibly for presentations to potential customers.

The South African Air Force has been pointed out as one of the potential customers of the Millennium for some time. The service operates six C-130B Hercules that are already quite outdated and is evaluating a replacement.
“The C-390 Millenium is designed from the start to be versatile, it is not only excellent for military missions, but it can also perform tasks of national interest such as disaster management, medical evacuation, maritime surveillance and firefighting. We are confident that the C-390 is a perfectly suitable aircraft for the diverse needs of the South African Air Force and ministries,” said Bosco da Costa Junior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security.
To date, Embraer has 40 orders and purchase intentions for the C-390, 19 of which are for the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), which is also a partner in the development of the aircraft.
The FAB has six cargo jets in service, while Portugal operates two aircraft and Hungary one, which was recently delivered.
