Although modest, Emirates and Etihad have announced that they will gradually resume some of their flights next week. The two airlines were authorized by the government of the United Arab Emirates, which decided to relax the restrictions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19).
Emirates Airline has confirmed that it will fly back to five cities in Europe from Monday, April 6, Paris (Charles de Gaulle), Brussels, Zurich, Frankfurt and London (Heathrow), all operated with the Boeing 777-300ER , and that will take passengers only from Dubai, in addition to cargo in both directions.
“These initial passenger services, although limited to travelers who meet the entry requirements set by the destination countries, will be welcomed by our customers seeking to return home to their countries and families. We would like to thank the UAE government and all our partners for their support in ensuring the smooth operation of our flights, “said Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Emirates CEO.
Etihad announced the return of flights from Abu Dhabi to Seoul (April 5), Amsterdam, Melbourne, Singapore (April 7), Manila (April 8) and Bangkok and Jakarta from April 9.
Without flying to almost any destination since April 25, the airline did not detail which aircraft it will use on these routes, but said that its “aim is to increase the number of flights, subject to approval from other foreign governments”.
