Operating in Brazil since 2007, Emirates announced this week a codeshare partnership with LATAM Airlines. The agreement provides that passengers from and to Dubai will be able to make connections from the airports of Guarulhos (São Paulo) and Galeão (Rio) with 17 destinations in Brazil.

The new codeshare should reduce the flight time to various destinations served by the Emirates hub in Dubai – 150 cities served from the United Arab Emirates city.

“We are pleased to establish a partnership with LATAM Airlines Brazil providing our passengers with increased choice, flexibility and ease of connection to different cities within Brazil. We continuously invest in providing our customers with more benefits. With our award-winning product and strong partners in Brazil, we look forward to continuing to support the country’s growing inbound tourist numbers and business trade opportunities,” said Adnan Kazim, Emirates Senior Vice President.

Currently, Emirates has daily flights to Rio de Janeiro with a Boeing 777-200LR and will continue to Buenos Aires and Santiago de Chile a few days of the week starting in June. São Paulo is the only South American city to receive the Airbus A380, the largest passenger aircraft in the world.

Codeshare with Gol

The new Emirates partnership is not the first in Brazil. The airline signed an agreement with Gol Linhas Aéreas in 2016 to serve 20 Brazilian cities from São Paulo and 18 from Rio de Janeiro.

It is well known that LATAM already has a similar codeshare agreement with Qatar Airways since 2017, Emirates’ rival airline and also offers numerous connections from Doha.
