Emirates Airline has obtained approval to launch a new daily flight to Bogotá, Colombia.
The new route will begin on June 3 and will be operated with the Boeing 777-300ER, the airline said.
The flight, however, is not direct like the routes between Dubai and São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil.

There will be a stopover in Miami, taking advantage of the “5th freedom”, which allows flights between countries to which the airline does not belong.
Bogotá will be Emirates’ fourth destination in South America, which already flies to the two Brazilian cities and also to Buenos Aires.
Until years ago, the Dubai-based carrier also served Santiago de Chile via a second daily flight to São Paulo, but the route was suspended.
The connection between Bogotá and Miami is also expected to intensify the competition for passengers on the route, which has flights from Avianca, LATAM and American Airlines.
Spirit Airlines and JetBlue also fly to the Colombian capital, however, from Fort Lauderdale, north of Miami.
“We’ve long wanted to serve Colombia, and the addition of Bogotá to our network is part of our strategy to deliver better connectivity, expand options and choice for travellers and provide unparalleled premium experiences on the ground and in the air,” said Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates.
