Boeing and Emirates SkyCargo have confirmed a new deal for five 777F freighters, which was signed in September.
The order was already in the planemaker’s backlog, but listed as an undisclosed customer. There are also six other 777Fs ordered last month, but the buyer remains unidentified.
With the new order, Emirates will have 21 jets of the type, which are capable of transporting 102 tonnes of cargo over distances of up to 9,200 km/4,970 nm.

The Dubai-based company currently has 11 Boeing 777Fs. In July, Emirates had announced an order for five aircraft that have not yet begun to be delivered.
“We are investing in new freighter aircraft to meet surging demand and provide our customers around the world with even more flexibility, connectivity and options to leverage market opportunities,” said HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group.
“Emirates continues to set the direction for our industry and we deeply appreciate the trust they have placed in the Boeing widebody family to serve as the backbone of their global fleet,” said Stephanie Pope, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
Emirates eyes 777-8F and A350F
The new order comes as rumors swirl that Emirates SkyCargo may announce an order for next-generation freighters.
The company is reportedly evaluating both the 777-8F, the replacement for the 777F, and the A350F, the new addition to Airbus’ widebody family.
Emirates has large orders for both the 777X (235 aircraft) and the A350-900 (65 jets), which leaves the race up in the air.
