Fiji Airways was announced as a full member of oneworld, a global alliance that brings together airlines such as American Airlines and British Airways.
The announcement was made at IATA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) and World Air Transport Summit (WATS) in Dubai on Monday.
Fiji’s national carrier is the 15th airline to become a member of the alliance following a period as a partner.

“I am extremely proud to announce our full membership in the award-winning oneworld alliance, marking a significant step in our commitment to providing unparalleled service and connectivity,” said Andre Viljoen, CEO of Fiji Airways.
“It’s a very warm leaflet, or hello, to Fiji Airways as we welcome them as our 15th full-member airline in the oneworld alliance. Fiji Airways is already part of the oneworld family, as we have had a highly successful relationship since the airline joined as a oneworld connect partner five years ago,” added Nat Pieper, oneworld CEO.
Fleet of 21 aircraft
Fiji was founded in 1951 and operates from its hub at Nadi International Airport, where it flies to 26 destinations in 15 countries, including cities such as Sydney, Hong Kong, Los Angeles and Tokyo.
Its fleet consists of 21 aircraft, four Airbus A350-900, three A330-200, one A330-300, five Boeing 737 MAX 8 and one 737-800.
The group also has the regional subsidiary Fiji Link with three ATR and four DHC-6 turboprops.
