Argentina’s first F-16 fighter jet is on its way to the country, aboard a C-130 Hercules. However, the aircraft will not fly.
The two-seater F-16B variant will be used for ground training by the Argentine Air Force at the VI Air Brigade in Tandil.
Parts of the fighter jet and an engine were loaded on Tuesday onto the C-130, registration TC-66, at Aalborg Airport in Denmark, and had departed for Argentina on December 4.

Another Hercules is on its way to Europe to pick up the rest of the aircraft’s parts.
According to Pucará Defense, the Lockheed Martin jet will be officially unveiled in early 2025.
Argentina reached an agreement with Denmark for 24 second-hand F-16A/B MLU fighters in April. In addition, the US approved a $941 million package in October that includes weapons and spare parts for the fleet.
The Argentine Air Force has been without a supersonic fighter since 2015, after retiring its last Dassault Mirage IIIs.
The task of patrolling Argentine skies is currently performed by subsonic A-4 attack jets.
