Airbus is reportedly close to closing a major order for 10 A330-900 aircraft with flyadeal, a Saudi low-cost carrier that is part of the Saudia Group.
According to Reuters, the deal is expected to be signed in the coming weeks and the first aircraft are expected to be delivered in 2027.
The Jeddah-based airline is said to have also evaluated the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, but preferred the updated variant of the A330 family.

The widebodies will be used to expand flyadeal’s routes, which currently only flies to destinations in the Middle East with its fleet of 37 Airbus A320s (26 of which are the more efficient A320neo version).
The Saudia group announced the launch of flyadeal in 2016 with a focus on providing air travel for pilgrims and expanding tourism in Saudi Arabia.
The first scheduled flight was operated in September 2017, between Jeddah and Riyadh.
Currently, flyadeal flies to destinations in Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Jordan and Turkey, in addition to maintaining a large domestic network.
Saudi Arabia has implemented a program to expand air transport in the country, which includes the launch of the new global carrier Riyadh Air, due to begin flights in 2025.
