British startup Global Airlines, owned by entrepreneur James Asquith, is finally starting to take shape after months of promises.

Its sole Airbus A380 received so far, registration 9H-GLOBL, has just completed an overhaul at EFW in Dresden, Germany, where its engines were recently fired up.

The double-decker aircraft has also received a partial paint job, with the tail displaying the new carrier’s logo. The A380, however, still retains the blue colors of China Southern Airlines, its previous operator.

According to FlightRadar24, the A380 9H-GLOBL is set to take off on Thursday afternoon from Dresden bound for Beja, Portugal, where the paint job will be completed.

Still without an Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC), Global Airlines will launch flights with the support of Hi Fly, a Portuguese airline that will operate the aircraft.

Plans are to initially launch flights between London (Heathrow) and New York (JFK) in 2025.
