Gulfstream announced the completion of production of the G650, a business jet that debuted in 2012 after a seven-year development process.

The aircraft, which seats up to 18 passengers, has raised the bar for speed and range during its career, such as when it circumnavigated the globe with just one stop in 2015.

The long-range G650ER version, which entered the market in 2014, broke the record for the fastest flight for a business jet in 2019, flying from Singapore to Tucson, Arizona.

“Since their inception, the G650 and G650ER have become the industry standard that all others have followed, recently surpassing a staggering 1 million flight hours,” said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream. “Beyond the program’s innumerable accolades and 125+ world speed records, innovations introduced with the form, fit and precision manufacturing process of the G650 laid the groundwork for today’s next-generation Gulfstream fleet.”

Gulfstream said that even with the end of production, it will continue to offer enhancements to the existing fleet such as the retrofit that included the Honeywell Primus Epic Block 3 avionics suite and the installation of Starlink high-speed internet, both announced last year.

The G650 will be succeeded by the G800, a business jet capable of flying 8,000 nautical miles (14,816 km) at Mach 0.85 or 7,000 nm (12,964 km at Mach 0.90).

The aircraft is powered by Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines and features an advanced high-speed winglet and wing design.

The G800 will be able to seat up to 19 passengers in four seating areas or three seating areas with a crew compartment. The manufacturer expects to obtain certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the first half of 2025.
