The first of two KC-390 Millennium military transport aircraft was received by the Hungarian Defense Forces on 12 April.
The Embraer multirole aircraft left Brazil this week heading to Kecskemét Air Base, where it was welcomed by two Saab Gripen fighter jets.
According to Zsolt Kutnyánszky, Hungary’s Secretary of State for Defense, the second KC-390 will be delivered in 2025.

The first aircraft will remain in Hungary for three weeks for testing before returning to Embraer’s facilities. The process also occurred with the KC-390 of the Portuguese Air Force.
Hungary ordered two jets in 2020 and will be the first country to equip its Millennium jets with an intensive care unit.
The Hungarian Defense Forces operated Antonov An-26 turboprops of which it had four active aircraft as of 2019.
In 2020, the An-26s ended up deactivated after the country gave up sending them to Russia to undergo an overhauling and updating process.
One of the An-26s is parked in Kecskemét, as shown by journalist Levente Benedek, who participated in the event.
