Iberia plans to significantly expand its flight network from Madrid to Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil.
The airline part of the IAG Group announced that it will have two daily flights to the largest South American city from October.
At the beginning of April, Iberia started a second flight between Madrid (Barajs) and São Paulo (Guarulhos), operated with the Airbus A350-900, with 348 seats.

For now, the frequency is three times a week, in addition to the daily flight operated with the A330-300, with 292 seats in three classes.
The plans, however, are to include one more flight per week between June and August.
Flights IB6825 and IB6826 will become daily in October, the company explained.
Almost daily flights to Rio
Furthermore, Iberia is expanding flights to Rio de Janeiro, the best-known Brazilian city. From a frequency of four weekly flights, the route will be served six times a week in June.
The aircraft used on flights between Madrid and Rio is the Airbus A330-200, with 288 seats.
In total, Iberia will offer 470,000 seats between Spain and Brazil, 51% more than in 2023 and 12% above pre-pandemic levels.
