Iberia will deploy its first Airbus A321XLR to fly from Madrid to London and Paris at the end of October, weeks before its debut on long-haul routes to the United States.
According to Aero Routes, the ultra-long-range jet will make its historic debut between Madrid and London (Heathrow) on flights IB 3170 and IB 3163 on October 26.
On the same day, the aircraft with registration EC-OIL will fly from the Spanish capital to Paris (Charles de Gaulle) on flights IB 3398 and IB 3425.

For now, the A321XLR will continue to fly daily to London until October 31, while Paris will have the aircraft until November 13. The schedule may change, however.
Transatlantic flight in November
The flights to London and Paris will be used to acclimatize crews and ground staff to the new single-aisle jet, which has the longest range for a twin-engine aircraft of its type.
The A321XLR can fly up to 4,700 nm (8,700 km) and will replace widebodies while offering a much lower operating cost.
Iberia, the aircraft’s launch customer, has scheduled the transatlantic flight debut for November 14 on the Madrid-Boston route.
On January 15, 2025, it will be Washington (Dulles)’ turn to be served by the A321XLR.
