British carrier Jet2 revealed on Friday that it has exercised 12 purchase options on an order for Airbus A320neo family jets.
With the expansion of the order, the budget airline now has 110 firm orders, in addition to 36 remaining purchase options.
“The Group has continued to implement its Sustainability Strategy and during the reporting period exercised a further 12 aircraft options from its order with Airbus. The Group now has 110 firm ordered Airbus A321/320neo aircraft, which could eventually extend up to 146 aircraft”, the company said in a statement about its 3rd quarter results.
Jet2 is expanding and renewing its fleet, focusing on Airbus aircraft instead of Boeing jets, which today still account for the majority of its planes.
The leisure carrier previously closed an order for 36 A321neos in August 2021, ending Boeing’s dominance of aircraft in its fleet. In October 2022, Jet2 placed another additional order, for 35 A320neo.
According to Airbus, Jet2 had a total of 63 firm orders for the A321neo, of which five jets had been delivered by October. The carrier expectes to takes delivery of six more A321neo in 2024.
