Korean Air and Boeing are expected to announce a deal for 20 to 30 777X jets, Reuters sources said.
The order is expected to be unveiled during the Farnborough Airshow, between July 22 and 26, and is valued at US$4 billion to US$6 billion at list values.
Korean Air’s potential order for the 777X has been rumored for some time, shortly after South Korea’s main carrier decided to acquire Airbus’ rival A350.

In March, Korean Air placed an order for 33 A350-900s, surprising the market, despite being an important operator of Airbus aircraft.
Despite the number of aircraft, the airline would in fact need more widebodies if it intends to renew and expand the long-range fleet.
There are currently 23 first-generation A330s, nine A380s, 37 777s and 14 787s operating intercontinental flights.
Korean Air is also about to take over two-thirds of local rival Asiana, which has a fleet that mixes A330, A350, A380 jets with the Boeing 777.
