LATAM Airlines has agreed a lease agreement for three Airbus A321neos with AirLease Corporation (ALC), the Los Angeles-based company announced.
The aircraft will be delivered to the South American airline between the summer and fall of 2023 and are part of the orderbook that ALC has with Airbus.
“We are pleased to announce the long-term leases of three new Airbus A321neo aircraft to the largest airline in South America: LATAM Airlines,” said Steven Udvar-Házy, Executive Chairman of Air Lease Corporation. “This is another important step in LATAM’s fleet modernization and network strategy optimization.”
Until the publication of the article, LATAM had not yet commented on the agreement.
Airbus’ best-selling aircraft
The A321neo has become Airbus’ best-selling aircraft in recent years, thanks to its combination of large passenger capacity (up to 240) and range.
It is the A321neo LR and XLR variants that have answered most of the requests. These single-aisle jets are capable of replacing widebodies on transoceanic routes, but at a much lower operating cost.
LATAM currently has 13 A320neo in service, in addition to 49 A321ceo, of the first generation.
