LATAM Airlines will count on the help of Spanish airline Wamos Air to serve three international destinations from Santiago, Chile.
The two companies have reached a wet-leasing agreement that provides for the outsourced operation of the Santiago-Bogotá, Santiago Los Angeles and Santiago-Lima routes starting in November.
Wamos Air will take over the flights using its Airbus A330-200s instead of LATAM’s Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

LATAM justified the situation due to “the lack of aircraft worldwide.” In addition, the airline is beginning a cabin refrofit of its 787s, which will reduce the fleet by early 2025.
LATAM’s rival group
Wamos Air had already provided wet-lease services (when operations, crew and service are included) to LATAM in 2018.
At that time, the Chilean company’s Boeing 787s were grounded due to problems with the Rolls Royce Trent engines, so Wamos placed two A330-200s and one Boeing 747-400 in service with LATAM.
Interestingly, since May, Wamos Air has had as a partner the Abra Group, formed by the controlling shareholders of Gol and Avianca, two of LATAM’s main rivals.
