Lufthansa City Airlines recently received its first Airbus A320neo, registration D-AIJI, in Munich.
The aircraft arrived at Lufthansa recently, having been received in March 2023. It joins three older A319s that currently form the fleet of the new low-cost subsidiary.
Lufthansa City, as it is also called, will debut its flights on June 26, with the first route between Munich and Birmingham, England.

The German group’s plan is to establish a carrier that is more accessible to passengers and that can handle the task of feeding its two main hubs, Frankfurt and Munich.
The strategy is to attract customers who currently fly on ultra-low-cost airlines in Europe, such as Ryanair and easyjet.
To achieve this, the airline has formed a new team of employees who have accepted more modest salary conditions than the rest of the group.
Although it will debut with Airbus aircraft already used by Lufthansa and other affiliates, City Airlines will have new A220-300s ordered last year as its base fleet.
The plan is to have 40 of these jets that consume less fuel and offer more amenities to passengers.
