Mongolian carrier Hunnu Air has announced that it will be the new operator of the Embraer E195-E2.

The airline has signed a leasing agreement for two aircraft to be delivered directly from the manufacturer in April and October. The lessor, however, has not been revealed.

The announcement was made by Hunnu Air CEO Munkhjargal Purevjal on January 24, confirming a report from late December that anticipated the company’s selection of the aircraft.

Hunnu Air already flies two first-generation E190s, the first received in 2019 from CDB Aviation and the second in 2023 from ACIA Aero Leasing.

The airline plans to expand its services to Hainan province, including Haikou and Sanya in China, as well as Phu Quoc in Vietnam.

In addition, Hunnu Air plans to use the E195-E2s on scheduled flights to Japan, China and South Korea, and also to launch a route from Ulaanbaatar to Tashkent in Uzbekistan.

With a capacity of more than 130 passengers, the E195-E2 will increase the number of seats available by around 30% compared to the E190, while also offering a cost per seat that is around 20% lower.

Founded in 2011 and operating since 2013, Hunnu Air has previously flown larger aircraft such as two A319s between 2013 and 2014, as well as turboprops such as the Fokker 50. It currently has one ATR 42 in its fleet.
