Russian manufacturer Aviakor has unveiled the first assembled fuselage of the TVRS-44 Ladoga turboprop at its plant in Samara.

The aircraft will now be taken to Yekaterinburg, where the final assembly line is located at the Ural Works of Civil Aviation (UZGA) facility.

The TVRS-44 Ladoga is a high-wing regional turboprop with a capacity of up to 44 passengers based on the LET L-610.

The aircraft is designed as a replacement for older An-24, An-26, An-140 and Yak-40 turboprops and will be capable of operating from unprepared runways and in cold climates.

According to the company, the TVRS-44 is powered by two Klimov TV7-117ST-02 engines, similar to those that power another Russian turboprop, the Il-114-300.

The TVRS-44 is 22.83 meters long, has a wingspan of 26 meters and a cabin width of 2.6 meters.

The manufacturer expects demand for 140 aircraft in the coming years, but has not provided a forecast for the maiden flight or start of production.

Russian regional aviation currently relies on outdated and inefficient aircraft and has long sought locally developed alternatives.

In addition to the TVRS-44, the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) is trying to advance the development of the Il-114-300, an updated variant of the low-wing turboprop with capacity for 68 passengers.

The regional aircraft is currently conducting certification flights while the first production examples are being assembled, the Russian state-owned company said recently.
