As has been the case, the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) delivered more Sukhoi combat aircraft to the Russian Air Force at the end of the year.

The new batch includes the Su-34 fighter-bomber and the Su-57 fighter, but it is not known how many aircraft were actually delivered.

The jets are manufactured in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, in the Russian Far East, a plant that has received investment to expand production.

“The Su-57 and Su-34 aircraft delivered today will soon enter service. The Su-34 front-line bomber is valued by pilots for its high tactical, technical and combat characteristics. The Su-57 fighter is the ‘king of the sky’, the most advanced aircraft in the operational-tactical aircraft line,” said Sergei Chemezov, Director General of Rostec State Corporation, the state-owned technology company that controls the UAC.

The Russian Air Force has ordered 76 Su-57 fighters, called the 5th generation in the country, but whose stealth is questioned in the West.

According to Flight Global’s World Air Forces, there are about 24 aircraft in service. The air force is also reportedly operating some pre-production examples used in the long development of the combat aircraft.

At least one Su-57 was reportedly damaged during the war in Ukraine in August during an attack on the Akhtubinsk Airfield.

Amid the fighting, the UAC is testing the use of thrust vectoring nozzles on one of the Su-57s, a feature that equips, for example, the US Air Force’s F-22 Raptor.
