Swiss will double its fleet of Airbus A350-900s, announced the carrier that is part of the Lufthansa Group. There will be 10 aircraft flying by the airline by 2031.
The new widebodies will be received from an original order from Lufthansa and delivered between 2027 and 2031. They will replace the four-engine A340-300s, of which there are currently four active aircraft.
In 2022, the airline had already announced an order for five A350s, with the first aircraft due to be delivered in mid-2025.

“Our new Airbus A350s will make our fleet even more modern,” says SWISS CEO Jens Fehlinger. “With these advanced twinjets and their innovative cabins, we’re bringing our long-haul aircraft fleet up to a totally new level of modernity, sustainability and inflight comfort for our guests.”
Swiss is expected to reveal the routes the aircraft will fly in the coming months.
The Swiss carrier’s long-haul fleet is relatively old. In addition to the A340s, there are 14 twin-engine A330-300s with an average age of 14 years and 12 Boeing 777-300ERs in service for between 5 and 9 years.
