If successful, Starlux will join other major Taiwanese airlines that are members of a global alliance. China Airlines is in Skyteam and EVA Air is in Star Alliance.
Starlux Airlines was founded in 2018 by Chang Kuo-Wei after he was ousted as CEO of EVA Air due to an inheritance dispute with his half-brothers.
The first flights took place in 2020 and the company currently has a modern fleet of 24 Airbus aircraft, divided between A321neo (13), A330-900 (6) and A350-900 (6).
Starlux flies from Taipei and Taichung to Singapore, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Macau, Malaysia and Thailand and Vietnam, as well as flights to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle in the United States.
