Thai Airways will bolster its narrow-body fleet with eight Airbus A321neos, SMBC Aviation Capital, which has leased the jets, has revealed.
The jets, whose engine supplier is not yet known, will be delivered between 2026 and 2027.
They will join 20 first-generation A320s flying with Thai after being transferred from defunct subsidiary Thai Smile Airways.

More fuel-efficient and with a capacity of around 240 passengers, the A321neos will allow the Thai carrier to expand its route network in the Southeast Asia region.

The fleet is divided between Boeing and Airbus, with five 777-200s, 17 777-300s, six 787-8s, three 787-9s, five A330-300s and 23 A350-900s.
In February 2024, the airline signed a leasing agreement with AerCap to take delivery of four A350-900s, three 787-9s and 10 A321neos.
“The Airbus A321neo aircraft will not only boost Thai Airways operational efficiency, it will enhance the overall customer experience with more comfort and advanced features while also promoting a more sustainable aviation industry. We are delighted to support Thai Airways in the growth and modernization of their fleet and we look forward to many years of working together,” said Conor Stafford, Head of Airline Marketing, SMBC Aviation Capital.
