COMAC has officially launched the shortened C919, also known as Plateau, with an order for 40 aircraft placed with Tibet Airlines at the 2024 Singapore Airshow.
The smaller variant of the Chinese jetliner will be able to carry between 140 and 160 passengers and operate in hot, high-altitude climates like Nepali airports.
Tibet Airlines also ordered 10 ARJ21 regional jets, but there was no forecast regarding the delivery of the aircraft or the value of the agreement.
The Tibetan airline had signed a cooperation agreement with COMAC to develop the high-altitude version in December.

COMAC also announced an order for six ARJ21s from Chinese state-owned investment company Henan Civil Aviation Development and Investment Group.
The aircraft, however, will be used in firefighting and aeromedical evacuation.
