TUI fly Belgium resumed flights from Antwerp with one of its three Embraer E196-E2s on October 7 after a two-month suspension.

The 136-seat aircraft completed flights to Alicante and Malaga in Spain, which were previously operated from Brussels while the company dealt with a shortage of spare parts for its Pratt & Whitney GTF engines.

With a runway of just 1,500 meters, Antwerp International Airport does not operate TUI’s Boeing 737 jets, so the airline had to temporarily transfer flights to the Belgian capital.

At the beginning of August, TUI Fly had already managed to resume operations with one of the three E195-E2s registered as OO-ETA, while the OO-ETC aircraft returned to flying on October 1.

Only the Embraer OO-ETB has been out of service since July 22.

Owner of a large fleet of Boeing 737s, TUI fly decided to lease three E195-E2s in 2022, aircraft supplied by AerCap after having been returned by Belavia, from Belarus.

Currently, Embraer jets are the largest aircraft operating in Antwerp, a city in northern Belgium and close to the border with the Netherlands.
