The Russian Air Force is expected to have more Sukhoi Su-57 stealth fighter jets soon. Two new aircraft were spotted making a technical stopover at Tolmachevo Airport, in Novosibirsk, between the 25th and 26th, according to Nskplanes.
According to Aviation21, the two fighters were designated “53” (RF-81777) and “54” (RF-81778) and were manufactured at the Komsomolsk-on-Amur plant this year.
They would be the 5th and 6th series production aircraft ever completed by KnAAZ. The Russian Defense Ministry expects to receive four Su-57 fighter jets in 2022, reinforcing the current mixed fleet, which has pre-production jets.
Russia has been using the Su-57 Felon on missions in Ukraine. According to a source from the TASS agency, “the use of Su-57 aircraft in Ukraine began two or three weeks after the start of the special operation. Aircraft operate outside the zone of active destruction by enemy air defense systems, using missiles.”
A video that was shared on social media in March shows an attack carried out by an Su-57 in northern Ukraine. Russia ordered 76 aircraft for UAC in 2019.
