United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), the company that controls Russia’s largest aircraft manufacturers, has said it will deliver four 5th-gen Sukhoi Su-57 fighter jets to the country’s air force in 2022.
Two of the stealth planes have already been sent to the Air Force while two more are being flight tested at the Komsomolsk-on-Amur facility, where manufacturer KnAAZ is based.
To date, the UAC has delivered six Su-57 fighter jets, part of an order for 76 supersonic jets. According to Russian media, the production rate is expected to grow in the coming years as the target is to deliver 22 aircraft by the end of 2024.
The Russian Air Force currently operates a mixed fleet of serial production fighters and pre-series Su-57 Felons.
New batch of Su-35S
The UAC also claimed to have sent the government another batch of the Sukhoi Su-35S fighter, an advanced version of the Flanker, but did not detail the number of planes.
“The Su-35S is our flagship product at the moment,” said the director of KnAAZ. “It is one of the best aircraft in the world. It has great potential and its construction at our factory will continue in the future.”
Russia is expected to receive a fourth batch of the Su-35S in 2023. The fighter had some aircraft shot down over Ukraine during the beginning of the military invasion of the country.
